Aahana and the Deep Sea Festival of Lights
A personalised storybook starring Aahana, age 6
When the ocean's yearly Festival of Lights is at risk of being dark and dull, Aahana teams up with three sea friends — Marlo the clever octopus, Pinch the strong little crab, and Glimmer the shy lantern fish — to bring light back to the deep. Each friend contributes something only they can do, and Aahana learns that a true glow-up takes more than one kind of light.

Deep in the blue, bubbles danced like bells. Tonight was the Festival of Lights. Every fish, crab, and eel got ready. Aahana swam down in her shiny fin-suit. She had waited all year for this. But the coral stage looked dark and plain. Something was missing, and nobody knew what.

Aahana found Marlo, a clever octopus with eight busy arms. Marlo said, the old glow-shells are gone. Without them, the stage stays dark. Aahana thought hard. Maybe we can find another way to make light, she said. Marlo's eyes lit up with an idea. Let's ask around the reef, he said.

Next they met Pinch, a small crab with big claws. Pinch could not glow, but he was strong. I can carry heavy things, he said proudly. He picked up sea stones twice his size. Aahana smiled and said, we will need strong helpers too. Pinch puffed up with pride and joined the team.

In a shadowy cave, they found Glimmer, a tiny lantern fish. She hid behind a rock, glowing faintly. I'm too small to help, Glimmer whispered. Aahana swam closer, gentle and slow. Every light matters, she said softly. Glimmer blinked, unsure, but did not swim away this time.

Marlo had a plan. Some sea creatures make their own light, he explained, it's called bioluminescence. If we all glow together, we can light the whole stage. Aahana clapped her hands. Pinch carried stones to build a glowing tower. The team began to work, each one doing their part.

But Glimmer stayed dim, tucked behind a big rock. I don't glow bright like the others, she said sadly. Aahana swam beside her. You don't have to be big to shine, she said. Just try, right here, with us. Glimmer took a deep breath and let her light grow, just a little.

Then something wonderful happened. Glimmer's small glow grew brighter and brighter, until it outshone them all. Turns out, she said, surprised, I glow best when I'm brave. The whole reef gasped. Marlo's ink swirled in patterns, Pinch's tower sparkled, and Glimmer's light crowned it all like a golden star.

The Festival of Lights glowed brighter than ever before. Fish twirled, crabs clapped their claws, and Aahana laughed with joy. It took all of us, she said, smiling at her friends. Marlo, Pinch, and Glimmer glowed with pride. Together, they had lit up the whole deep blue sea.
